It has occurred to me lately that we are all standing at a very important crossroads and have an important choice to make.
Do you believe the world is going to hell? That the despondent economy, bickering, divisive politicians and unfair distribution of wealth are leading to a massive uprising and economic catastrophe? That the morals and hard work ethic are far gone? Do you feel a deep sense of sorrow for this generation? You have begun stockpiling: food, guns, love and feel a deep sense of fear and foreboding when you think of the future. Things are Not Going Well, and you see the signs everywhere.
Or do you understand that we are more than just these bodies that we inhabit? That we are more than the problems that we have been given: faulty hearts, struggling relationships, empty checkbooks and careers gone wrong. We have all been put here for a purpose.

Yes it is. Love this article. Hits the nail straight on the head!!!

This is so beautiful, and so simple. I’m not a “meditation” person, but for me just turning off all the sounds and letting my mind wonder, and ponder, is so important! It’s why I like to take baths when I can, or have NO radio or noise in the car, when possible. Oh the thinks I think 🙂
It’s kind of like a reboot for my over-stimulated brain. After hours of kids playing/singing/asking and their noisey toys, and then music, and sometimes TV, and radio, and internet and email and all the INPUT, sometimes it’s necessary to just let the brain process all of that input, in whatever way it chooses. The silence is everything.
Thank you for reminding us! Pinning and tweeting and sharing this.
Thanks Joy! I think meditation is Very Hard as I find it SO DIFFICULT to turn my brain off. I go to the river (sing this in a deep baritone) and I sit and try to quiet my mind, and let the thoughts go as they come in, and then the bleeped bugs start to bite me, and my leg falls asleep sitting cross legged. How do they do it? I think, and 20 minutes sometimes seems forever. BUT I tell you what, Joy, 1), yes, I think it is even more important nowadays when we are all on stimulus overload and 2) I’ve meditated for a long time but now doing group meditation during my Moon Lodge meetings and the kirtans that I have gone to, I find them so powerful. It is the oddest thing to be in a room in a group of 30 people and just be silent, to go beyond the ‘uncomfortable silence’ stage and see what comes next. I really do believe there is a great power in this, not only to ‘heal’ yourself, but when enough of us come together, to heal communities and beyond! Thanks for reading and sharing. 🙂
