My first ‘real’ job was at the regional headquarters for Canon in Dallas.  I was making good money.  I had gotten my own apartment.  My responsibility was to assist the Regional Sales Manager with facsimile sales in our entire region.   And I enjoyed it.

I had projects which were large.  This was in 1994, and unbelievably, for a technology company, Canon was woefully behind.  So we were setting up a Microsoft Access database and creating report systems.

My father used to call me at work.  I would be brief, ‘got to go, Dad’.  I’m working and do not have time.

And then he died.  He went to get milk, had a massive heart attack and passed away instantly.

My whole life changed. I quit the job and followed my newly married husband up to the Air Force base in North Dakota where he had been assigned.  Away from Texas where I had grown up and in the snow of North Dakota, working at a sales job with a husband that I did know how to get along with and in the midst of the grief of losing my father, I started to have panic attacks.

I never could remember what the project I was working on was about.

It no longer mattered.

We’ve all had those ‘before’ and ‘after’ moments when something monumental shifts the perspective in our lives.

We’ve never quite had a collective one like what we are experiencing now.

But that is what I find myself doing right now:  ‘sifting’.  ‘This’ matters.  ‘This’ does not.

When you are given this gift in your life and you truly use it, the results are amazing.

We have all been given this gift.

“Like a king whose crown signifies order in the kingdom, the crown chakra represents the ruling principle of life – the place where the underlying order and meaning of all things is ultimately perceived.”

“To ancient wisdom found within, a sacred place where we begin.

And ending, here we shall return; reconnected we have learned

to know divinity inside and bring it forth with honored price.

The key within our minds we hold, to mysteries we shall unfold;

Gateway to the worlds beyond,

In sacred space and peace we bond.”
