In one of my former lives, pre-kids and married to my first husband who is a pilot, I used to spend a lot of time traveling so I can oh so relate to this article  “The Plane Might Crash or Radical Acceptance” on MidwivesofChange.com .

My frequent flying was back in the day of pre-internet booking, so one could go in the wee early hours of the morning and often have the entire plane to yourself.  From what I hear, that does not happen today very often plus everything going on in the world, I can only imagine what it is like to travel a lot now.

Yes, what an incredible lesson on giving up control that can transfer to every facet of your life. I have ‘an anxious personality’ that I have pretty much traced to some Mother wounds (although she did her best on her own) and this unrealistic desire to think I can or want to control things. We all get to that moment in life where we realize we cannot, right. And I think what we do after that is oh so important …

What does this have to do with Women’s Circles? Well, I was thinking the other day that more and more I see this, hate to sound all ‘new-agey’ but cannot describe it any other way than that these Circles and Events STIR UP ENERGY.

It’s kind of like if your kids have made those plastic bottles of sand and rocks and water … deciding to participate and go to Circles and Events, you are taking control of ‘shaking that plastic bottle’, but then as the elements whirl and fling and mix, you are rather just along for the ride, and sometimes that can be quite uncomfortable.

But when the sand and rocks settle, that is Growth. And it’s always worth it.

Going back to flying, even though I was pretty much terrified every time I flew, whenever the plane took off (and I knew logically that taking off is one of the two most dangerous times flying: taking off and landing), but whenever that plane would race down the runway, 180 mph enclosed in a steel shell with no control, when it would take off into the wild blue yonder: off to a different place, a different adventure and a different way of seeing things, my heart would lift right along with it.

And I would feel this incredible feeling of joy and possibility.
